Gleaner too hot for Wray & Nephew
The Gleaner Company defeated Wray & Nephew 10-0 in a quarter-final of the 2011 Scotiabank Group-sponsored Business House Football Knockout Competition on Saturday at the Lime Sports Club.
Locksley Thompson scored a hat-trick, while Fabian Swaby scored a brace.
Other goalscorers were Keiron Brock, Durant Foster, Dwayne Thompson, Jason Gayle and Steve Rogers.
The Gleaner Company will now meet giant killers, National Housing Trust (NHT) in the semi-final.
NHT, defeated defending champions Wisynco Group 6-5 in a penalty shoot-out, after they played to a 0-0 full and extra time draw at Jessie Ripoll Primary School.
Other quarter-final
In the other quarter-final match played on Saturday at the Bull Pen in Bull Bay, Norman Manley International Airport (NMIA) clipped GraceKennedy 1-0 with Sean Nelson scoring in the 17th minute.
NMIA will now play the Scotiabank Group in the other semi-final.
Scotiabank Group stopped Petrojam 3-1 in their quarter-final match-up with Akeeli Martin scoring a brace and Nicholas McCreath getting the other goal. Ricardo Munroe, scored the consolation for Petrojam.
Both semi-finals will be played on Saturday August 27, 2011 at a venue to be announced.
The Western Sports-sponsored Division One semi-final will be played tomorrow. Former champions, National Water Commission will meet Caribbean Cement Company at Red Stipe Oval at 214 Spanish Town Road and defending champions Petrojam will meet Wisynco Group at the NWC Playfield, Mona.
Both games start at 3:30 pm.
On Wednesday in the Division Two semi-finals, Jamaica Customs will play Jamaica Fire Brigade at Red Stripe Oval while NHT will play Red Stripe at the NWC Playfield, Mona.
