It is difficult breaking through as a deejay in contemporary dancehall where the field is packed and competition is fierce. For Cee Gee, things are finally taking shape after years of paying his dues.

His latest songs, A Smaddy Dem and Party Like A Rock Star, are doing the dancehall rounds. The former was produced by longtime collaborators Rudelikedat Entertainment while the latter was handled by Corey Todd and Mario C.

"Dem getting some steady rotation which means the work is being recognised. I see it as another step to something big," Cee Gee said.

In addition to recording dates with Rudelikdat, Cee Gee has worked with Mario C whose 357 Records which does a lot of work with MD Entertainment, owned by top deejay Beenie Man.

Cee Gee rates Money Song and Mars Mi Gone - the latter done with Beenie Man - as his biggest song to date. He was introduced to Beenie Man through Mario C (Mario Campbell) and is part of his growing MD Entertainment camp.

He considers working with Beenie Man an "absolute privilege".

"Not everyone can say they got an opportunity to work with a top artiste like him," he added.

The self-proclaimed 'King of the Dancehall' was one of the performers Cee Gee (born Cheston Grossett) listened to while growing up in Port Antonio, Portland.

Bounty Killer and Shaggy were other influences for the budding deejay while he was a student at Fellowship All-Age and Titchfield High schools.

Most of his early recordings, like Tin Mackerel and White Rice, were done for Rudelikdat Entertainment which is also based in Port Antonio.

Sneak Preview, done with Beenie Man, is another of Cee Gee's latest songs.
