Tendulkar out

SOUTHAMPTON, England (AP):

India batsman Sachin Tendulkar was ruled out for the rest of the one-day international series against England yesterday with a toe injury. The injury leaves Tendulkar still seeking his 100th international century after also missing Saturday's rained-off first ODI at Chester-le-Street.

"It was the (right big toe) injury that he had in 2002 and it flared up in Durham,'' team manager Shivlal Yadav said. "He went to a specialist in London and we got the news he would not be taking any further part in the one-day series and he might need rest for four to six weeks.''

The Indians are trying not to dwell on the impact of losing Tendulkar ahead of today's meeting with England at the Rose Bowl in Southampton.

"It's something not in our control and which we can't do anything about,'' said Parthiv Patel, fresh from a career-best ODI innings of 95 on Saturday.
