The American Chamber of Commerce of Jamaica, hosted its Business and Civic Leadership Awards gala and presentation at New Kingston's Jamaica Pegasus hotel on Monday night. Social capital met corporate chic and Something Extra captured some of the glamorous women in attendance.

1. The talk for many is not about the announcement, but the circumstances that precipitated the announcements, and the story is it was based on circumstances beyond our shores. They say it's time to fasten our seatbelts as the ride is set to get a lot bumpier with all kinds of pending indictments and scandalous revelations ahead, with the outgoing one warning those with skeletons in their closets to stay clear of the race for succession!

2.Some are saying some CEOs and managers are too busy for their businesses' own good, and, consequently, many businesses lose millions yearly due to unreturned telephone calls to CEOs and other managers.

The way to go

3. Fearing the rise of an unknown quantity due to what they perceive could be a rancorous fight for the top spot that would leave the main contenders battered and bruised, some insiders are suggesting a unified ticket that would see the finance minister as leader and the education minister as his deputy. This, they say, is a happy compromise and could prevent hemorrhage. Not everybody is buying into this suggestion, however!

Sweetener sours

5. Story is the missing items were distributed as part and parcel of the pre-general election sweetener. Now that they have to be returned, some fear the act might have just further soured an already foul mood!

6. All is not well out west. Story is the opponents of the favoured one have started an e-based vitriolic campaign to try and derail his chances. His friends and family, however, will have none of the campaign of nastiness and are calling out the suspected perpetrators, and crying shame!
