Marshall in top form

Xavier Marshall, yesterday, credited his application for an innings of 142, which piloted his team, Lambert's XI, to a 128-run win over Bernard Jr XI at Sabina Park in the second of three trial matches to help select Jamaica's team for next month's West Indies Cricket Board Super50 Tournament.
Marshall hit five sixes and slammed 12 fours during his knock as Lambert's XI, batting first, posted 240-8 off their allotted overs.
Jamie Merchant, 33, gave Marshall best support, while Krishmar Santokie, 3-40, took most wickets.
Bernard Jr's XI, in their reply, were then bowled out for 112 off 48.4 overs, with Merchant claiming 5-26.
"I told myself if I got a start I would capitalise, and that is what I did," said Marshall.
"I hope my form continues in the final match and during the tournament, where I hope I will be able to perform and encourage the regional selectors to take another look at me," he added.
The third trial match will be played on Monday, following which a captain will be named and a 14-man squad will be selected for the October 18-31 tournament, which will be held in Guyana.
