Walker suspended

Champion jockey Omar Walker has been slapped with a two-day suspension by the stewards for careless riding aboard beaten favourite THE RUNNING MAN in the fourth race at Caymanas Park last Saturday.

The four-time champion, who is under pressure from Dick Cardenas and Shane Ellis to retain his title, was penalised for causing interference to DAZZLE GIRL in the vicinity of the half-mile, resulting in the disqualification of his mount from second to last place.

Walker's suspension takes effect next Wednesday, October 5.

Also suspended for one day at Tuesday's hearing was the apprentice Jodeien Anderson for careless riding aboard RHYMAT in the sixth race on Wednesday, August 31. His mount caused interference to EXPRESS TRAIN, SON OF INDIA and the eventual winner BUTCHER GAL in the last 250 metres. His suspension embraces October 5.

Topline jockeys Dane Nelson and Paul 'Country' Francis are both serving two-day suspensions for careless riding. Their suspensions started on Wednesday.
