ETOBICOKE, Ontario (CMC):

None of the Caribbean jockeys working at the Woodbine Racetrack won a race on Saturday's 10-race card.

But experienced Jamaican trainer Laurie Silvera kept the region's flag flying high with a double, including saddling Ariana D, ridden by Omar Moreno, which won the CAN $100,000 co-feature Avowal Stakes.

Moreno drove the 2-1 chance to a comfortable 5 1/4-length victory over 10-1 outsider Fantastic Cousin in the seventh race on the programme.

Ariana D, a five-year-old, dark bay mare, travelled 1,400 metres on the Polytrack in one minute, 22.85 seconds.

Moreno was unhurried on Ariana D in the early going, made a strong move on the turn before bidding three-wide into the stretch on the five-year-old, dark bay mare taking charge and drawing away.
