Hot Edwin Allen in goal spree

Leaders Edwin Allen High extended their unbeaten run in Zone H of the 2011-12 ISSA/Gatorade/Digicel daCosta Cup schoolboy football competition to nine games, as they featured among a number of teams that registered high-scoring wins yesterday afternoon.

Edwin Allen blanked Alston High 5-0 to move within touching distance of an inter-zone placing. The team, which now has 24 points, secured victory on the back of a double strike by Oniek Clarke. Alston's defeat added to their miserable season as they have only managed to secure one point from their six games.

In another big game in the group, third-place Clarendon College spanked hapless Porus 10-0 to move up to 17 points.

In Zone I, leaders Denbigh High made it seven wins from eight starts with an 8-0 whopping of Central High, which took them to 21 points and a step closer to an inter-zone slot. Rohan Richards and Cornel Robinson, who both got hat-tricks, did most of the damage for Denbigh.

In another game in the group Glenmuir High, who have two outstanding games, joined Garvey Maceo in second place after their big 6-0 win against Bustamante High, which took them to 16 points. Paul Wilson, who was red-carded in the game, Newton Henry and Noel Johnson each got two goals.
