- Faulkner wins Heroes Weekend pool tourney
Goran Faulkner won the Heroes weekend pool tournament at Hot Shots Pool Bar, 103 Constant Spring Road, last Saturday and Sunday. The competition, which was extended to Heroes Day to facilitate a women's tournament, was sponsored by Pool Tables & Billiards Supplies Limited and Hot Shots Pool Bar.
Faulkner, who is classified in 'B' class, defeated five 'A' class players during the tournament, including top-rated Noel 'Schoolboy' Blagrove from MoBay in the final. However, being handicapped as the lower-class player, Faulkner only had to win three games, while Blagrove was required to win four. Hence, Faulkner won at 3-3 to take the title. Faulkner earned $45,000 cash prize and a trophy, with Blagrove securing $15,000 and a trophy.
The women's tournament, which attracted only six participants, was won by Laureen Dash, who defeated Lennore Chen 2-1 in the final.
Meanwhile, Chelsea Hotel and Pool Bar will stage an eight-ball tournament confined to 'B' Class players today at 5 Chelsea Avenue, New Kingston, starting at 4 p.m. It offers a first prize of $25,000 and trophy.
- Business House50-over semi-finals
The Reggae Jammin 50-over Business House cricket semi-finals are on tomorrow at two venues, starting at 10 a.m.
At Spring Village in St Catherine, defending champions Jamaica Broilers will oppose National Housing Trust, while high-riding LIME will take on NWC at Mona. The winners will meet in the final on Sunday, November 6 at a venue to be announced.
Meanwhile, the Best Dressed Chicken 30-over KO final between LIME and NHT, which was aborted by rain a fortnight ago, has been rescheduled for Sunday, October 30, at Mico. The 35-over KO final was won by Jamalco some weeks ago.
- Justbet five-a-side
The Justbet-sponsored Business House five-a-side Division I and II finals are on today at the NWC playing field, Mona, starting at 3 p.m. In the Division II final, Scotiabank 'B' will oppose Spanish Grain Stores at 3 p.m., while defending champions Tank-Weld Metals will oppose Peak Bottling in the Division I final at 5 p.m.
In the recent Division I semis, Tank-Weld Metals beat Scotiabank 'A' 4-1, thanks to goals from Waterhouse Premier League player Vincent Earle and one each from Jonathan Williams and Jermaine Gray. Scotia's consolation goal was scored by Donovan Hibbert.
In the second Division I semi-final, Peak Bottling defeated Jamaica Broilers 4-2 on penalty kicks, after both teams were locked at 2-2 in regulation and extra time. Troyland Williams scored a brace for Peak Bottling, as did David Lewis for Broilers. Prior to the Division I final today, a Business House All-Stars will oppose a St Elizabeth All-Stars team at 4 p.m.
- The Dip Invitational skittles semi-finals
The semi-finals of the Supreme Ventures/Mandingo-sponsored The Dip Invitational tournament takes place tomorrow with Starliner opposing Mister C, starting at 2 p.m;. and defending champions The Dip vs Dragon at 5 p.m. Both matches will be played at The Dip in Gregory Park. The winners will advance to the final on Sunday, October 30 at The Dip. At stake is a first prize of $50,000.
Meanwhile, Charlene Phoenix and Stacey-Ann Miller will contest the Mandingo-sponsored women's singles final, following semi-final wins on October 9 at The Dip. The final will be played on October 30 at The Dip.
- Advantage Petrojam
Division One KSAFA/Western Sports Business House champions Petrojam drew first blood on Thursday when they defeated St Ann Business House champions NWC 3-1 in their first leg Champions of Champions clash at Tinson Pen. Greenwich Town Super League player, David Shultz, scored all three goals for Petrojam. The return leg will be played today at Drax Hall in St Ann.
- Old Harbour Bay hit two straight
Debutants Old Harbour Bay United won two matches in a row after they dismissed Flamingo 1-0 in a St Catherine Division I match on Thursday. Otis McDonald (46th minute) scored the all-important goal. Old Harbour (six points), last season's
In Major League action, DB Basovak came from behind and clipped Spanish Town Police 2-1. Derrick Bubidad (57th) and Tevin Ferguson (88th) scored for DB Basovak, while Michael Marsh (40th) netted for Police. In another game, Portsmouth drew 1-1 With McCook's Pen. Craig Parker salvaged a point for the Portmore-based club after Olanzo Brown's 30th-minute goal had given McCook's Pen the early lead. The competition continues tomorrow.
- Passagefort, Waterford final
Passagefort United and Waterford will clash in a highly anticipated final, as the Colin Fagan-sponsored St Catherine South Constituency Domino League will come to a close tomorrow at the Independence City Plaza at 1 p.m.
Passagefort United's road to the final was smooth; they had an easy 250-211 victory over Ken's Wildflower in last week's semi-final. On the other hand, Waterford had to dig deep to pull off a close 250-242 win over Westchester Nuckuz in a heated battle at Myrtle Way, Old Passagefort.
- Pembroke Hall top rally
Pembroke Hall of St Andrew copped the inaugural Portsmouth/INSPORTS Primary football rally, after they defeated Portmore's Ascot 6-5 on penalties in the final at the Portsmouth field on Thursday. In a much-anticipated semi-final clash, Gregory Park and Ascot - with the two top strikers, Ascot's Earon Elliot with seven goals and Gregory Park's Kimarni Carless with five goals - in the competition playing on opposite teams the match was expected to be fierce.

- Western Sportsin 3-on-3 final
The unbeaten Western Sports defeated The Gleaner 56-50 in Game Two of the Division II 3-on-3 basketball semi-finals at the Stadium Courts on Wednesday, to move into the final against National Land Agency. Western Sports had beaten The Gleaner 48-45 in Game One at the same venue - the previous Wednesday - in another hard-fought contest.
Rohan Robinson scored a game-high 35 points for Western Sports, who stretched their unbeaten run to 18 matches. As usual, The Gleaner's Omar Wolfe topped the scoring for his team with 27 points.
Unbeaten G4S advanced to the Division I final after putting away NWC in Game Two on Wednesday night. However, they will have to await the outcome of Game Three in the other semi-final to know who their opponents will be, as defending champions Grace Cannings levelled their series against last year's Division II champions, JTA Cooperative Credit Union, winning 47-43 to force a third game. Kevin Daley scored 27 points for Grace Cannings, while Dave Blackwood replied with 21 for the JTA.
- Colours hunt fifth win
Defending champs Colours International hunt their fifth win in seven matches, as they take on G.C. Foster College at the G.C. Foster
In another Group B game, Portsmouth take on Bridgeview at the Portsmouth ground. Portsmouth, who have had an inconsistent season thus far, should start favourites for this game. In Group A, former champs Ken's Wildflower should dispose of winless Development Squad at the Bridgeport sports ground. All games begin at 11 a.m.
