West Brom came from behind to snatch their first league win at Villa Park since 1979 after Aston Villa's Chris Herd was controversially sent off. Darren Bent gave Villa the lead from the penalty spot before Herd was shown a red card for an innocuous-looking clash with Jonas Olsson inside the box. Chris Brunt sliced the spot kick well wide but his error was soon forgotten as Olsson headed home from a corner. The Baggies' dominance was rewarded when Paul Scharner fired in the winner.

SUNDERLAND 2

Two goals in the last eight minutes earned Sunderland their first away win and left Bolton without a point at the Reebok Stadium this season. Stephane Sessegnon broke the deadlock when he swivelled and shot first time past Jussi Jaaskelainen. Darren Pratley had a chance to equalise but goalkeeper Simon Mignolet stood tall and made the block. Nicklas Bendtner made sure of the points in injury time, scoring from 10 yards after good work from Sessegnon.

LIVERPOOL 1 NORWICH CITY 1

Substitute Grant Holt rescued a point for Norwich against a wasteful Liverpool at Anfield. Martin Skrtel and Luis Suarez hit the woodwork before Craig Bellamy's deflected shot put Liverpool ahead just before the break. But, only three minutes after coming on, Holt planted a bullet header beyond Pepe Reina to equalise. With Liverpool pushing for a winner, John Ruddy pulled off an instinctive save from Suarez to deny the hosts.

WIGAN ATHLETIC 0

Yohan Cabaye's first goal for Newcastle condemned Wigan to their sixth successive Barclays Premier League defeat. The Latics started positively, Victor Moses forcing Tim Krul into a diving save and Hugo Rodallega slicing wide. Newcastle had struggled to create chances but Leon Best went close with a header, well saved by Ali Al Habsi. The Magpies improved but Wigan seemed set for a draw until Cabaye curled in from 20 yards, as Newcastle moved level on points with third-placed Chelsea.

WOLVERHAMPTON WANDERERS 2

Wolves staged a stunning late fightback to hold Swansea City to a draw and ease the pressure on manager Mick McCarthy. The hosts trailed 2-0 at the break and seemed certain to be heading for a sixth successive Barclays Premier League loss. Danny Graham slotted the visitors ahead from Mark Gower's clever, dinked pass and Joe Allen converted Graham's inviting cross to double the lead. But Kevin Doyle's close-range shot gave Wolves hope and Jamie O'Hara's fierce strike denied Swansea victory.

ARSENAL 3 STOKE CITY 1

Robin van Persie came off the bench to inspire Arsenal to a fourth straight Barclays Premier League win at home. Gervinho had seen his clinical first-half strike from Aaron Ramsey's pass cancelled out by a close-range goal from former Spurs striker Peter Crouch. But Van Persie swooped just six minutes after coming on as a second-half substitute to convert Gervinho's cross. The Dutchman added a third goal when he diverted a shot past Asmir Begovic after another Gervinho pass.

Two masterful strikes from Rafael Van der Vaart increased the pressure on Blackburn manager Steve Kean. The Dutchman slotted Spurs ahead with a neat side-foot finish from 12 yards following a superb run by Kyle Walker. Rovers levelled as Mauro Formica fired superbly into the top corner after Chris Samba flicked on a free kick. But after the break Van der Vaart showed more composure to curl a 20-yard shot into the corner as Blackburn remain level at the bottom with Wigan.

Two goals in the dying minutes from Louis Saha and Jack Rodwell handed Everton their first win in four games at Fulham. The scores were level after goals from Everton's Royston Drenthe in the second minute and Fulham sub Bryan Ruiz. The game was heading for a draw but then Bobby Zamora missed an open goal for Fulham before Saha put Everton in front in the 90th minute. Rodwell finished it off with a volley from the edge of the box in added time.

Manchester City stunned city rivals United with a derby victory that takes them five points clear at the top of the Barclays Premier League. It was also United's heaviest ever home defeat in the Premier League and their worst at Old Trafford since 1955, when they lost 5-0 at home to City. Mario Balotelli scored each side of half-time, before last man Jonny Evans was sent-off for hauling the Italian to the ground. Sergio Aguero made it 3-0 from close range before Darren Fletcher struck a 20-yard finish to make it 3-1. Edin Dzeko scored twice and David Silva once as City secured the win.

Heidar Helguson's first-half penalty was enough to secure QPR's first home win of the season over nine-man Chelsea. Helguson won the penalty after he was pushed by David Luiz and then beat Petr Cech from the penalty spot. Jose Bosingwa then saw red for bringing down Shaun Wright-Phillips when through on goal, Didier Drogba then followed after a lunge on Adel Taarabt. Nicolas Anelka wasted a headed chance late on as Rangers held on.
