It was dubbed 'Flairtatious', the party to celebrate the 27th anniversary of The Gleaner's Flair Magazine, published every Monday. As was to be expected, it was a party, chock-full of flavours and all. And we do mean red carpet swagger and cosmopolitan 'flair' here and then some!

Hosted at the Guardsman Group headquarters, along Old Hope Road. The lush grounds of the sprawling corporate landmark, flush with flowering plants, orchids lilies and a cascading waterfall, and already an oasis of botanical beauty, was transformed into a fantasy playground of one giant marquee, hosting several kiosks boasting premium libations and gourmet creations. Dears, aesthetically, we are talking a sensationally fab ambience here and nothing but, done up in colours to reflect the party's Flairtatious theme!

And if the seductively happening ambience did not get you, then honeys, the absolute charm and creativity of the mixologists who were on hand, serving up some libations that were fit for the gods, was sure to do the trick, as dears, we are talking a simply awesomely fabulous production and promotion here!

From the lounge areas boasting cosy downtime spots to the VIP refreshers lounge, the Flair Magazine team went to town in creating what was nothing but a classic party vibe - chic, not cheap, Flairtatious, but not risqué, and more important - it all communicated nothing but good taste! And little wonder here, as, indeed, since its first publication 27 years ago, Flair Magazine has not only been the bible of fashion and all things fashionable, it has been the foremost arbiter of style, communi-cating and promoting good taste and civility, traditional family values, premium entertainment and personalities and the lifestyle of the fab, the well-to-do and social pillars of society over its near three-decade history!

And so, no surprises here that a party to celebrate the 27th anniversary of the trendsetting mag, often imitated by would-be competitors, would be the personification of the acme of fabulous style. We are talking style magma here, and we do mean style purr-fect, and nothing but, as from secure parking and the red carpet entry to the lavish layout and fare, the whole event reeked of haute elegance and unadulterated sophistication! Pumpkins, and with the 'Flair Mother' - Lifestyle Editor Barbara Ellington - looking the proud glam-maven and her team - Nashauna Drummond, Daviot Kelly, Latoya Grindley, Keisha Shakespeare-Blackmore and Sacha Walters-Gregory - buzzing to make sure it was all that, the event was truly a celebration of the best of Flair in essence and in spirit and it made for one social tease!

There was a brief ceremony during which Ellington and her team gathered to share in the cake-cutting exercise; and following the toasts, sips and thrills, gal pals Marilyn Bennett, Debra Taylor and Annalise Harewood joined the fab Sher Bridgeman, who was celebrating her birthday, in cutting her cake - and thus making the event a double birthday celebration! And a celebration it was too, and in every sense of the word, as with Coppershot and Renaissance providing the music, y'all know we are talking a musical mélange here that embraced all ages and genres and made for beautiful listening and some real dancing. And dance guests did, in celebration of a good thing, as all proceeds from the event will go to the Mustard Seed Communities Mary's Child - a charity benefiting pregnant teens who are victims of some of society's ills.

But what a night! Dears, it was all fab with among those out including 'A-Crowder' Robert MacMillan and the charming Maree Sigurdson; Hubert Chin and wife, the charmingly lovely Jean Lowrie-Chin; Gary Barrow and his stunning wife, Bernadette Barrow; millionaire entrepreneur Wilfred Emmanuel-Jones; the très élégant Sonja Sutherland-Dumetz; Owen and Lorraine Clunie; chef extraordinaire Susan Couch; events planner, chef and decorator par excellence Jacqui Tyson, whose artistic touch added the flair to Flairtatious.
