'God's Way' goes west

Based on the success of its scheduled run in Kingston and the subsequent demand for the show across the island, DMH Productions will be taking God's Way to Montego Bay for one show only on Saturday, November 19.

God's Way is written and directed by Dahlia Harris and she offers that the audience's feedback on the show has been overwhelming.

"You can have a vision for something and with the greatest effort fail to realise your expectations. God's Way has surpassed our objective of inspiring and ministering to audiences. Lives have been touched, families repaired, individuals strengthened in their resolve to overcome. We feel that it is important to share that with as many people as possible."

Since its opening, both Christians and non-Christians have found the show to be immensely entertaining. The story, mainly focused on the test of faith, is extremely engaging because of its realistic portrayal of the situations and characters. The wonderful blend of intense drama and laugh-out-loud comedy also makes it a total package for the entire family.

Diversity

Harris says her foray into gospel theatre ministry was a well-needed step towards expanding the diversity of theatrical productions on offer.

"There is a large percentage of Jamaicans who love theatre but have the wrong perception of just how much we have to offer. There are various types of productions being staged each year catering to just about every kind of theatrical palate. By positioning God's Way as another option, it may encourage them to go out and see what else is on show."

As is the case with the Kingston run, special benefit packages are being offered to church groups, schools and other organisations in western Jamaica to assist with their fund-raising efforts.

"The benefit performances have made quite a difference to these groups as they seek to expand their outreach programmes and their building funds. In some instances, proceeds have gone to assist needy individuals with medical treatment and expenses. We are more than happy to offer this facility to groups in western Jamaica," she said.

God's Way, which wraps up its Theatre Place run next Sunday, November 6, features Harris, Trudy Campbell, Sabrena McDonald and Ainsley Whyte.
