Recycled rides response
I am Gebre Mesquitta, a Jamaican industrial designer living in America. I read your article in the online version of the Jamaican Gleaner: 'Recycled Rides - 22-y-o makes battery-operated vehicles from scrap'. Thanks for showcasing the talent of our Jamaican people, I am very impressed and proud of this young man!

My name is Derrick Kelly, and I'm a native Jamaican living in the United States. I've lived in the States for the past 41 years, and have maintained contact with my roots by reading Jamaican news articles from time to time. The article you recently wrote 'Recycled Rides - 22-y-o makes battery-operated vehicles from scrap' was very interesting. I found Davina Robinson to be a very resourceful and intellectual young man.
He reminded me of myself as a child growing up in Kingston (Mona Heights) back in the '60s, building model cars from lollipop sticks and bottle caps for wheels; like Davina, I too had a God-given talent. I am now 50-years-young and, to this day, I'm still making toy cars, only thing, they are a little more complicated and fully functional.

I read your article in the Automotive section of The Sunday Gleaner and I was moved by Davina Robinson's innovation. I think that one of the top car makers in Japan or the US should employ this young man because of his intelligence and sense of ability. For such a tender age, he is doing the job that many persons can't do unless they have a master's or a higher degree.
Once more, congrats Mr Robinson, and show the world that talented people are from Jamaica and we will protect your designs because we need to show the world that you are an innovator.
