Peter Bunting's folly

Peter Bunting's response to Finance Minister Audley Shaw's complaint about the state of the Government's finances was silly and unbecoming of someone who has worked at high levels in the financial system.

First, Mr Bunting must be aware of the developments in technology and its capacity to send information around the world. Second, Mr Bunting is general secretary of the People's National Party and was formerly the principal of a major investment bank, and currently holds that position in another.

He is no ordinary man. When he speaks and interprets the economy, it is news.

It is perhaps true that the Government will run out of cash by January, as Mr Bunting claimed he merely mused from a rural political platform.

What we, however, expect from Mr Bunting in his public utterances is critical, data-driven analyses, not musings.
