RBC auction at Jamaica Open for children with cancer

RBC Royal Bank (Jamaica) Limited hopes to score high in support of children at the Bustamante Hospital for Children at the Jamaica Open Tournament 2011, which is set to run from November 30 to December 3 at the Half Moon Golf Course, Montego Bay.

The bank anticipates raising funds through a special silent auction, which the hospital will use towards the treatment and care of children who are suffering from cancer.

The auction will feature a number of specially autographed golf items, including a golf bag signed by world-renowned players Luke Douglas, Matt Kuchar and Anthony Kim. Other items for the silent auction will include Stephen Ames-signed PGA Champ 2010 hat and pin flag, and Ernie Els-signed PGA Champ 2011 pin flag.

In addition to these coveted items, LIME and Half Moon, two other corporate sponsors of the tournament, will provide attractive items for the auction.

Reaching out to community

"This tournament is a natural for us," said Annette Atkinson, manager, corporate communications and brand. "We want to continue to show our support of causes meaningful to people in the community. This is a great opportunity to have some fun and generally let people know how much we care about the communities in which we operate."

The Bustamante Hospital for Children is the region's largest health-care facility for children, and also treats children who are inflicted with cancer. The cause is aligned with the bank's outreach project, the RBC/RBTT Caribbean Children's Cancer Fund, which assists young people across the Caribbean who are 16 years and under and have been diagnosed with cancer, by providing them with the necessary care and treatment they need to fight this dreaded disease.
