Windies A look to clinch series

KINGSTOWN, St Vincent (CMC):

Following a four-wicket win in the first of the three-match limited- overs series here on Wednesday, West Indies A will be again hoping to beat Bangladesh A in the second encounter today.

The teams have been fairly competitive from the two-match 'Test' series, which West Indies won 1-0, followed by the two Twenty20 'Internationals' which were drawn 1-1 in St Lucia last weekend.

Now the regional reserves want to prove a point.

Jonathan Carter, the talented Barbados left-hander, made a fine, unbeaten 68 as West Indies A chased 183 for victory in the first one-day match at the Arnos Vale Stadium. They triumphed with 5.2 overs to spare.

Sixth-wicket partnership

Carter's cousin Carlos Brathwaite also had an impact on the match, taking two for 25 with his medium-fast bowling and contributing 16 in a useful sixth-wicket partnership of 30.

Brathwaite made his international debut on the recent West Indies tour to Bangladesh.

Jason Holder, the tall Barbadian fast bowler, who is a member of the Sagicor High Performance Centre, took two for 42 and scored 16 not out on Wednesday.

Observers reckon that both Brathwaite and Holder, as six-footers, could become part of a formidable West Indies fast bowling attack in the not-too-distant future.

Justin Guillen, the level-headed Trinidad & Tobago opener, also caught the eye in the first match with a knock of 36.
