'Get Better' music campaign for single mothers
Reggae/Urban singer Nando has partnered with the fledgling One Jam Foundation to launch his 'Get Better' campaign. The move to start a campaign came out of the success of his recent single with the same name dedicated to single mothers.
The song, which peaked at number four on the Jamaica Top 20 Reggae Countdown Chart, is geared at empowering single mothers and all females who strive to raise their children without sacrificing their moral values.
The campaign is also to foster motivation, helping mainly single mothers and their children to continue pursue their dreams in the arts, education, and sports.
The immediate focus and first project of the campaign is to raise US$2,000 to help single mother Sharnette Daley who is seeking assistance to complete her first degree at the University of the West Indies.
Daley lost her husband early in 2011 and has been raising her son on her own since then. The lack of finances may force her to deregister from the university, as she is unable to acquire the US$2,500 required to pay the tuition.

Nando alongside One Jam have partnered with online fund-raising site Chipin.com to raise the money which will go towards Daley's tuition.
Persons wishing to contribute can visit the site to make donations. Donors can also visit One Jam's Facebook fan page to receive a free download of Get Better.
According to the overseas-based reggae artiste, who triggered the movement with his song, it is pleasing to help others.
"It's just to let mothers know that despite the struggles of bringing a child alone, they don't have to sell themselves to survive because things will get better once there is ambition," he said.
