Island Mas plans to spread soca culture through a series of parties. Director of the organisation, Andrew Bellamy, said it is all about providing first-class soca experiences for their patrons.

"Soca is a powerful music. It has the ability to take all your stress away, bring people together and, more important, it forms the foundation for great 'wining' parties," he said. The parties start tomorrow and will end March 31st. The weekly event is called Island Mas Soca Village and will run from 10 p.m. to 4 a.m.

The well-known soca campaigners have earned a reputation for producing high-energy events. Bellamy said that his team intends to push their profile a step further by creating a soca culture. "Our approach has changed slightly from previous years. This year, the aim is to ensure that lovers of soca can 'own' a place each Saturday night to satisfy their soca needs," he said.

According to Bellamy, the Island Mas team has collaborated with Village Blues Bar to create a soca safe haven. "The goals of this partnership are very clear. For example, the Village has been recently redecorated and fits the profile of our target crowd. Village is central for our patrons and is safe and, finally, patrons are able to party and lyme for hours without disturbing anyone," he said.

He said the idea has already hit a high note with soca lovers. "The feedback from friends and Island Mas supporters has been tremendous. Everyone is anticipating a great Island Mas Carnival season. We have a reputation for producing great parties, great vibes and great soca music, so it will be great," he said.

The event will feature a new guest DJ each week, partnering with resident DJ Billy.

Admission is $500 and Bellamy predicts a hassle-free experience. "We want our patrons to enjoy the series without any glitches and we want to assure them that the guaranteed fun and experience will be priceless," he said.
