Double Dose, many winners
Ash Wednesday's 'Double Dose' car show at the UDC Car Park, New Kingston, had a gladiatorial air, complete with spectators gathered around the competitors' arena and wild cheers for favourites.
In this case, though, the defeated drivers were not dragged away and sawdust applied to the oil slicks of 'also ran' motor vehicles, although, after each winner was announced, the other participants drove their vehicles out of the rectangle cordoned off by guard rails. And at least one loser showed his emotions on leaving, sending persons scurrying from the railings as the dust thrown up by the tyres of his Nissan Skyline clouded the air.
