What's your view on the Government's plan to construct a state-of-the-art prison within the next three years to house approximately 5,000 inmates, in an effort to address overcrowding in the island's prisons?

Schools are more overcrowded, and we have inadequate infrastructure. There are no factories, but I guess prison overcrowding comes first.

- Sharika GirlBleu Brown

Stop constructing prisons and create places for profitable and gainful employment, especially for the youths.

- Noel James

Too much money and nothing to do with it! Why not fix the roads?

- Gracie Williams

I'm a strong believer in capital punishment, so let the executions begin! Get rid of all those murderers on death row, who are bleeding taxpayers' pockets.

- Tanya Gay

If you guys only knew the conditions of Jamaica's prisons, you would think differently. You should take a trip to one someday and see for yourself. I do agree, though, that the money could've been used to build factories or such, but the prison is very much needed as well.

- Sherika Milky Stevens

Use the money to implement social programmes!

- Chezrel Blair

We should invest more in educating our young ones than thinking about how to make prisons a more comfortable experience for criminals. We can deter more potential criminals by making going prisons a very bad experience.

As long as we are following international laws, we should give criminals the very minimum comfort while they are there.

- Kwamie Turner

Rehabilitation should be a priority, not mega prisons. More institutions is not the solution, but a Band-Aid. We need to invest in crime prevention and community programmes that will target youths.

Would you have liked to have seen Asafa Powell competing at the World Indoor Championships in Istanbul, Turkey?

Definitely, he is on top of his game and would make us proud!

- ChineyInnocent

Yes, he is still one of our premier athletes.

- coyde4councilor

I would really love to see my favourite runner perform.

- ueKimmy

Yes, I am very disappointed. They said he would, and it's another broken promise.

- ayanabrown

Yes! It would give us an idea of his state of readiness for the Olympics.

- ORANCAZ

Yeah, I want to see him perform here. So the Jamaican people can judge what to expect in Olympics. Hopefully, it's an improvement.
