Island Grill - We 'seafood' Jamaican style

Published:Thursday | March 8, 2012 | 12:00 AM

Island Grill listens to its customers! Well known for the fusing of various herbs and spices indigenous to Jamaica to create innovative delicious menu items filled with flavour, they create that natural homestyle cooking that Jamaicans love. This is what differentiates them from others in the Jamaican quick-service restaurant (QSR) industry with their signature jerk chicken.

Island Grill's fresh, never frozen chicken is marinated for 48 hours in their own nicely spicy, robust jerk seasoning, and then grilled to golden-brown perfection, eliminating the fat which is bad for you. But when customers asked for an alternative for their children, or for the more conservative palate, they launched their sweet and savoury barbecue chicken, plump and juicy.

Customers asked for an alternative to the roast, jerk tilapia, and since Lent is upon us, Island Grill now has a 'Snapper Special'. Customers, kept asking for a "sea fish", so here comes the king of "sea fish" - the snapper! It sells for J$400 and features brown stew snapper served with a choice of rice and peas or pumpkin rice and vegetable, or alternately an escoveitched snapper served with two delicious festivals (prices slightly higher at the airports).

But if that's not what you are looking for this season, there is also the widely acclaimed Yabba line of fricassee chicken, curried chicken or veggie stew peas - great for vegetarians. There are the Jamaican soups and numerous Jamaican sides, which include coleslaw, our ever-popular festival, ripe or green plantain.

Popular with foodies islandwide, Island Grill operates out of 16 locations, including both international airports. All locations offer flexible opening hours, with a friendly and customer-oriented atmosphere to suit a busy lifestyle.

The chain prides itself on making customers feel special and works continuously on making everyone enjoy a pleasant and relaxing environment. They are proud of and take particular care in obtaining the freshest Jamaican ingredients to prepare the meals that are great tasting and nutritious. They also encourage a healthy lifestyle and want all Jamaicans to always "Eat Good, Feel Good, Live Good".
