WESTERN BUREAU:The Ritz-Carlton Golf and Spa Resort in Montego Bay, St James, was recently the scene of honours for seven of its employees, recognised for their outstanding performance in 2011, from a total of 25 nominees.
The resort's 10th annual Five-Star and Leader of the Year Awards Ceremony was held under the theme 'Sparkles and Bling, Old Hollywood Glamour'.
During the function, the honourees were awarded with plaques and certificates in a manner akin to the annual Oscar motion picture awards in the United States.
Five of the seven won the nomination for Five-Star Employee 2011 in their respective departments. They are Hayden Anderson, employee dining room server; Nerine Ennis, employee dining room supervisor; Stacy Hill, banquet server; Errol Powell, Loss Prevention Department; and Adreene Vassell, food and beverage employee at the resort's Mangos Restaurant.
Kevron Fletcher copped the Caddy Master Enterprise of the Year award, while Juan Jaramillo of the resort's Engineering Department was declared Leader of the Year.
Tony Mira, Ritz-Carlton's general manager, glowingly described the event as a night of celebration.
"This is where we celebrate and nominate one of our Five-Star winners for the year, and we have the awardees for every quarter, and each of the winners for each quarter is here tonight in hope of being Five-Star of the Year. We also have a manager that we select for this honor," he explained.
"This is the best of the best, so this person who comes out tonight is the 2011 Five-Star of the year, out of all the Five-Star awardees that have gone on all year long."
