Reggae/dancehall duo Andrew and Wada Blood have decided to give to what they describe as a very worthy cause - The Downtown Youth Development Foundation.

The group, known for hits such as Irie and Hustler For Life, recently donated a laptop to the foundation, and Andrew Blood told The Sunday Gleaner there was more in store.

He said they were trying their best to give at least 50 laptops to the foundation.

"It's for the youths dem who don't have access to Internet in downtown so through this they can learn to do stuff on the Internet. It's more than just giving a laptop, it's teaching them also," he said.

Help the youths

Andrew Blood told The Sunday Gleaner he was informed of the foundation through a business associate.

"He was basically saying that he was going to cater to about 300 youths who don't have such facilities. I always like to help and these are the things that I've always dreamed of doing, so I just joined what already existed instead of making something new. The fact that something is being done to help the youths dem downtown is what motivated me," said Andrew Blood.

He went on to emphasise that with the direction and fast movement of technology today, it is imperative that youths are a part of the ever-changing system.

"The world is going to cyberspace. If the youths dem nah guh be able to get knowledge of that then dem a go lose out," he said.

The duo has been hard at work in studio with local producers. They recently released videos for Gal A Wine and Inna Di Club. A few songs geared towards the international market are also to be released.
