Umemployed teacher appeals for job
THE EDITOR, Sir:
Our children are being deprived of educators such as me.
I am a vibrant, positive, goal-oriented and objective primary-school teacher who graduated from college more than two years ago. I have taught for 16 months at two different schools, always for someone who is on vacation. I have applied to more than 60 schools in Region 5, and up to now, I have not got a reply.
I love teaching with a passion! I make things happen in the classroom. I transform students. Being in the classroom brings out the best in me. Children who were written off by their parents are made to look at their future in a different light.
I have a passion for reading. I allow my children to see reading as food which gives them every source of nutrition possible.
My students oftentimes forget that I am their teacher and see me as their mother as I am often called 'mommy'.
I am a grade four exam national marker. I have practically created a wealth of experience for myself through constant research and reading.
My appraisals are very good. I have never received a letter of reproof from my principals.
I am a team player who finds it hard to say no to participating in anything which caters to the holistic needs of our children.
BUT STILL I AM JOBLESS!
I feel like I am losing my purpose. The thought of not being a teacher is my worst nightmare.
If there are any schools in Jamaica who need an educator who was born to teach, please feel free to contact me.
