Minna Israel's ride with the Range Rover Evoque

Power suit and game face on, today's woman is looking to make a bold statement in every sphere. Such a statement is easily made in a powerful yet aesthetically appealing vehicle like the internationally acclaimed and multi award-winning Range Rover Evoque.

Minna Israel, one of Jamaica's foremost captains of industry, is a seasoned driver who has been hooked on SUVs for the past five years. Israel recently fell in love with the stunning Evoque she acquired from exclusive local dealer ATL Automotive.

"My neighbour's comment was, 'It's sweeeeet!'" said Israel. The distinguished business fellow of the Mona School of Business says she is extremely satisfied with the vehicle.

"I'm intrigued by the attention this vehicle commands from other drivers and pedestrians, as their eyes follow the vehicle as it drives by. With its snazzy, unique look and aesthetic appeal, my son and I knew it was the one the day we saw it," she said.

The strong presence and magnetism of the Evoque, can be attributed to the exterior features that make up its dynamic profile, including a sleek, striking silhouette, dramatic rising beltline and signature jewel headlights.

Luxury, comfort, convenience and advanced technology greets the driver on entering this crossover SUV. Leather seats and ample leg room ensure comfortable seating. "It's amazing. It looks compact from the outside, but is actually very spacious once you get inside. Four of us have sat comfortably in it on a few occasions during long trips to Westmoreland and Montego Bay," she explained.

"I'm also very pleased with the centre storage console which serves multiple purposes, including an armrest for myself and my passenger. I store miscellaneous items in it that I can reach easily. It opens up to two large cup holders when I need them."

Entertainment and communication features have become a major selling point for vehicles, and Land Rover, the makers of the Evoque, have ensured that it is packed with the latest gadgets. These include an eight-inch touch-screen stereo system, multifunction steering wheel, voice control system, Bluetooth telephone connectivity and audio connectivity for devices, including the iPod.

"I love the fact that I don't have to hold my phone in my hand to take calls while I'm driving. It's not just a cool feature, it is really safe, because I keep my hands on the wheel and just focus on driving. I also enjoy switching stations and adjusting the volume using the steering wheel, so my eyes are on the road," Israel said.

Land Rover has equipped the Evoque with several safety features. Israel pointed out the vehicle's anti-lock brake system, electronic brake force distribution, emergency brake assist, and hill descent control as being among her favourites. "It is very comforting to know that everyone in the vehicle is covered, with seven airbags in case an accident occurs."

The Evoque is not just a pretty vehicle, but a proper Range Rover with superior performance and real off-road capabilities. "When compared to others in its class, the performance is exceptional. I love the easy handling and the switching between automatic and sport modes, together with the use of the paddle shifters. My son, who helped me choose it, has driven it off road and says it performs brilliantly!" she said.

The push-button start and gear-shift knob are advanced technological features that Israel finds pleasing. "The rear-view camera is excellent. When I'm reversing or parking, I see a live video of everything happening behind me right there on the touch screen."

Commenting on the fuel consumption, she noted that the Evoque is efficient, as she now makes fewer trips to the petrol station.

"The Evoque is both exotic and sporty; the right fit for every occasion, whether I'm dressed up for an outing or running around on the weekend. Overall, it's just a fun car to drive and I love the moon roof, which I use quite often," she adds.
