Usher gets primary custody of his sons

Usher has been granted primary custody of his two sons.

The singer had been involved in a bitter dispute with ex-wife Tameka Raymond over the welfare of Usher V, four, and three-year-old Naviyd, and now a judge in Atlanta, Georgia, has sided with Usher.

The children will spend the majority of time with their father, while Tameka - whose 11-year-old son Kile Glover died in a tragic jet ski accident last month - will retain some custodial rights.

However, it remains unclear how often she will be able to see the boys.

Before the case closed, Usher's attorney labelled Tameka "incapable of being a proper parent" to their children.

He had accused Tameka of trying to interfere with the time he was allowed with their kids under their joint custody arrangement - a charge she denied.

During closing arguments in the case, the legal representative said she "does not have the emotional stability or capacity to bond with them, and therefore she is handicapped".

Tameka's attorney counter-argued that Usher travels all the time and does not have a good relationship with his mother, whom he had testified was part of the family unit that would help take care of Usher V and Navyid when he was on the road.

Usher, whose real name is Usher Raymond IV, married Tameka Raymond in 2007. They divorced two years later. He said the couple had been separated since July 2008 and claimed there was "no reasonable hope of reconciliation" and the marriage was "irretrievably broken".

In May, Usher testified that Tameka Raymond spit at and tried to fight with his girlfriend during one visit and that his ex-wife hit him during the dispute. He said he didn't press charges because "I didn't want the boys to know that their father put their mother in jail," he said.

Tameka Raymond's attorney claimed that Usher provoked her client and that his account is exaggerated.
