Combines efforts with Digicel for Waterhouse fun day
On the heels of a spectacular performance at the 2012 London Olympics in August, Digicel has partnered with Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce to say thanks to her community for its support.
The thank you will take the form of a grand Family Fun Day today in the Waterhouse community, where her roots lie. The event will kick off at noon and will see members of the community being treated to loads of activities for the day, including giveaways of phones, call credit, and other items.
Entertainment will include performances from local community talent as well as top acts like popular Jamaican gospel singers Jermaine Edwards, Omari, and Garfield Reid, among others.
And to ensure this is a true family feel-good event, Digicel will also be setting up a Kiddies Village as well providing gifts for the children to take home at the end of the day.

According to Benjamin Simms, sponsorship executive at Digicel, "Digicel is very proud to be aligned with our brand ambassadors like Shelly-Ann, and we're always looking for ways to strengthen our relationship with all of them. So we're very happy to be helping Shelly-Ann to say thanks to her community for their support of her."
In the meantime, the very excited Pocket Rocket commented: "As an athlete, it's a great feeling to know that your entire country, and importantly, your community is supporting you, and the Waterhouse community continues to give me tremendous support over the years - particularly during the London Olympics. During the event, and in recognition of the fact that parents and children are still in back-to-school mode, Digicel will be rewarding five university students from the Waterhouse community during the event for their extraordinary level of commitment to their studies as a means of encouraging them to continue doing a great job.
