Oklahoma hit by series of earthquakes
OKLAHOMALUTHER, (AP):
The United States Geological Survey says several earthquakes have shaken central Oklahoma.
USGS geophysicist Jana Pursley says the temblors began around 1:45 a.m. yesterday and all were centred northeast of Oklahoma City. She said three earthquakes have been confirmed and that she was working on a confirming a possible fourth. She said the strongest was a magnitude 4.3 quake centred near the town of Luther.
SHALLOW
Pursley says all the quakes were shallow, which is common for the area. She also says it's common for several earthquakes or aftershocks to strike during a short period of time.
An official answering the dispatch line for the Oklahoma County Sheriff's office says they have received no reports of damage or injuries.
