Do you agree with Education Minister, Ronald Thwaites that corporal punishment is an unacceptable disciplinary measure?

I bet if you ran a survey, you would realise that the persons who object to corporal punishment are those born outside of the early 1980'! Back then, no child died from it, and there were many more disciplined and mannered children in the society! Totally acceptable! The crime got out of control when they stopped it, and now it's escalating! If not corporal punishment, then what, brilliant, law-abiding citizens?

- Shiekera Smith

It never kill mi when I was going to school, and no guns and knives were in school; we were more disciplined.

- Joan Tappins

I think the results speak for themselves. Look at this generation without the corporal punishment, and look at the generation before with corporal punishment. Are we better off now than then? I think not! From grade-one through to tertiary-level students now have no respect for teachers!

- Kimberly Campbell

No one has the right to hurt any child. It can become an evil habit, let's get it stopped!

- Sandy Stewart

Totally unacceptable.

- Nevin Powell

Did it kill him when he was going to school? With these breeds of kids, they do need punishment to groom them. It's Jamaica, not America. I do not mean to kill them, but let them know the consequences for bad behaviour.

- Maureen Miles

I'm not a Thwaites fan, but I totally agree.

- Royal Jorge

No, I do not agree with corporal punishment as some teachers go over the top. There are other ways of administering discipline. Hitting children makes them more violent and aggressive.

- Christine Scott

If you want to see the result, check the facts. The generation before 1980 has a more mannered behavior than most of the ones after.
