The new 24 Seven Café

Fresh flowers, chic décor, and the intoxicating smell of brewing coffee … . There is a new café in town. One of Kingston's preferred hotels, The Jamaica Pegasus, gave Food a sneak peek at their newly renovated café, at the pre-opening of 24 Seven Café, last Friday.
The coffee house explores the beauty of nature. Upon entering the coffee house, blooming buds line the counter of the entrance, with the cosy seating arrangement secured by a grass green hedge. Decked in pristine white, with a hint of colour, the décor encourages relaxation with a hint of sophistication.
The café, which officially opened its doors yesterday, is phase one of the revamping project of The Jamaica Pegasus, upgrading the hotel's public areas, restaurants, meeting rooms and bedrooms. Included in this project is a newly furbished bar and a lounge area for the café overlooking the pool and it is inclusive of a communal work table engineered for easy use of iPads, laptops and other electronic devices, complete with free WiFi service as well as an upcoming mingle area for corporate entities, stocked with its own bar.
Group director of marketing and sales at the hotel, Nicole Madden-Greig, began the sneak peek before handing things over to Chef Mark Cole. Cole presented some of the items on the menu which promises exciting offerings designed to entice the taste buds. The dishes offered included a sample of their delectable smoked marlin bagel, chicken pot pie, Asian chicken salad with a peanut dressing, and chicken wraps. And it doesn't stop there -there are paninis such as Knutsford Boulevard pork panini and New Kingston steak panini, providing a wide range of flavour for any discerning palate. A take-out counter will cater to customers who desire these offerings to go.
Chef cole describes his offerings as, "Having a Jamaican flavour with an international flair … a flair with a difference."
For dessert, Chef Anthony Walter surprised guests with tangerine cheesecake, carrot cake and wholewheat bread pudding. Some took great pleasure in not feeling guilty about indulging in these sweet treats, as the three provided their diets with fruits, vegetable and fibre, respectively.
Customers can also look forward to the café's traditional offerings- coffee, espresso, cappuccino and mocha café latte.
Opening hours are 7 a.m. until customers say when - after all, it is the 24 Seven Cafe.
