Good move, JLP
We welcome the further and clearer signal from the Jamaica Labour Party (JLP) that it will participate in the planned commission of enquiry into the 2010 operation by the security forces in Tivoli Gardens that left more than 70 civilians dead.
To have stayed out of the enquiry would have been an abdication of duty by the party that formed the Government at the time of the operation, as well as its responsibility to the people of a community which it represents in Parliament.
That the JLP is seeking to bring international experts to help prepare for, and participate in, the commission should enhance the efficacy of the enquiry.
