WESTERN BUREAU:Jerked beef burgers, paired with Stone's Ginger Beer, Newcastle Brown Ale paired with bacon burgers, and Kirin Ichiban Lager complementing shrimp burgers, were among the highlights of the 'Burgers and Beers' party last Friday in Montego Bay.

A perfect marriage is how one could best describe the Select Brands/Rainforest Seafood co-promotion event, which was well attended by beer drinkers and burger lovers, including several food and beverage aficionados from the resort town's hotels. The event saw foodies from both near and father gathering together to celebrate the fusion of 'burgers and beer.'

Held at Brian and Sheilagh Jardim's seaside residence at Emerald Cays, Rainforest Seafoods showcased the diversity of burgers that are available for almost any occasion, while Select Brands, which launched its beers last year, introduced a number of beers to a discerning audience.

"What you are tasting here is 100 per cent beef burgers paired with Budweiser. Today, while you are lounging, you can also titillate your appetite with beef and Stella Artois beer from Belgium," boasted Select Brands' Dominic Beckford.

Within weeks, Rainforest shrimp burger will make its debut in supermarkets, and if Jardim has his way, customers will be eating his seafood burgers with a beer of their choice.
