Copperwood Pork brings the sweetness to RW 2013
Copperwood Pork made a tasty debut at the recent launch of the Gleaner-sponsored Restaurant Week.
Copperwood Pork's large booth, partly constructed from bamboo, blended well with the 'real' ambience of City Life Garage in Southside, downtown Kingston. But it was the brand's mix of traditional and gourmet offerings of the 'sweetest meat' that reminded guests they were at the launch of Jamaica's premiere epicurean event.
As the excited children filled up on the delights of sno-cones, cotton candy and popcorn, Copperwood Pork equally entranced the adults with three decadent options of their leaner, cleaner, more tender meat-cheesy shredded pork flautas, Chinese barbecued pulled pork sliders with wonton chips, and Cuban-styled sliced grilled pork with breadfruit feta and avocado salad. LEAD FOOD SPONSOR
As the lead food sponsor, Copperwood's support of RW goes beyond their exquisite showing at the launch.
"Copperwood Pork, deemed the chef's choice for pork, is proud to be the official food sponsor of this year's Restaurant Week," says Copperwood Pork Brand Manager Karlene Dennis.
According to Dennis, "We are participating in Restaurant Week as it allows us the opportunity to encourage more local consumption of pork as we educate Jamaicans on how healthy and versatile the meat is. Chefs in participating restaurants, as well as consumers, will be challenged to create their own award-winning dishes using Copperwood Pork," she revealed.
This year's launch of the island's most celebrated food event took place in an unconventional setting - a spacious, open-air garage right smack in the Southside community of downtown Kingston. The garage is the future home of City Life Ministries, a transformational programme based in the community, which is this year's official charity for Restaurant Week scheduled for November 8-16.
According to sales manager at Copperwood Pork, Craig Plunkett, "The Restaurant Week Copperwood Pork partnership is one made in food heaven. Both brands are synonymous with distinguished quality and excellence as they both serve the discerning Jamaican public with superior food options. We are fully supportive of events like Restaurant Week that put our foods, restaurants, chefs and overall culinary mastery on show."
Produced at the Lucea-based Copperwood Farms, Copperwood Pork has been sold to hotels and restaurants islandwide for over a decade. Premium cuts are sold in supermarkets in a distinctive blue and black branded tray pack.
