Copperwood Pork challenge
As the Gleaner-sponsored Restaurant Week nears, chefs at participating restaurants across the island are gearing up to wow diners with their specially created pork dishes, as part of a new and exciting feature of the annual food affair.
Chefs in 23 of the 85 participating restaurants in Kingston, Ocho Rios and Montego Bay have been challenged to stimulate taste buds by adding their best pork dishes to the menu during the November 8-16 event.
"Pork lovers are in for a real treat this year," promises Restaurant Week organiser, Stephanie Scott, who notes that this is being made possible through Copperwood Pork, Restaurant Week's lead food sponsor.
"For years, Copperwood Pork has been deemed the chef's choice, and Restaurant Week this year gives them the perfect channel through which they can showcase their culinary mastery with pork. Each year, Restaurant Week brings something new and offers diners a value-added experience. We thank Copperwood Pork for partnering with us on this and know that patrons will enjoy exceptional dining experiences with the premium Jamaican pork," Scott states.
Copperwood Pork Brand Manager, Karlene Dennis, is also excited.
"We are excited to have Jamaica's most talented chefs demonstrate their creativity with a variety of Copperwood's succulent pork cuts and vie for the awesome grand prize - a fully paid trip for two to Food Network's South Beach Food and Wine Festival in Miami, Florida, in February 2014," she said.
She added, "Our participation in Restaurant Week also allows us the opportunity to encourage more local consumption of pork, showing that pork is a healthy and very versatile meat option."
