What are your views on the practice of locking out students who turn up for classes late?

That seems wholly dangerous. Why not have a late check-in with other consequences than lose an entire day?

Noooooooooo bad idea.

- @GDemar

They shouldn't lock them out. Find a better way to deal with kids who are late betta than being on da street gettin in trouble.

Lock them out. A lesson in respect, self-governance and punctuality.

There must be rules, but locking children out of school is just WRONG! Give them extra assignments (bookwork) to do!

Students who are tardy are usually performing poorly as well. The onus is on the teacher to give them a reason to be on time.

Sis Stephanie/HCHS had a great policy when I attended in 84-89. Bottom line demerit or detention. Kids took pride and abide

- @sun_conure

I believe the students should be admitted ... . Overpunishment is irrational and makes the problem worse!

This used to happen at Ocho Rios High School; wasn't a fan, but hey, tardiness is unacceptable!
