THE Grammys' best and worst fashion notes
Fidge Fletcher, Stylist
The red carpet was a little tame at the Grammys this year. No Lady Gaga in an egg, no Nicki Minaj in an inappropriate monk's robe, but overall, it was nothing shy of a success. There were so many stunning and jaw-dropping dresses that it was hard for me to round up my worst dressed. As the red-carpet season continues, the obvious trends this season are the metallic dresses and subtle colour suits. And especially at the Grammy's, metallic dresses ruled the red carpet.
Best Dressed
(Fidge Glam stamp of approval
1. Ciara in Emilio Pucci (performer at the Grammys After-Party)
Ciara wowed the red carpet in a bronze asymmetrical metallic dress, perfect for her ever-growing baby bump. Ciara looked so amazing, from her hair to her make-up, everything looked flawless. Ciara rarely disappoints when she walks the red carpet, and I can't wait to see how her style evolves with her growing bump.
2.Taylor Swift in Gucci (multiple nominee)
Taylor Swift
definitely gets Best Dressed this year, stunning the red carpet in this
premier Gucci 2014 metallic chain-mail silver dress. Her dress was
simply jaw-dropping. I have no complaints about this look.
3. Madonna in Ralph Lauren Collection S/S2013 (performer)
All hail the fashion icon who has always - and will forever - taken risks on stage and on the red carpet. Madonna looked absolutely amazing in this black Ralph Lauren collection suit and oversized big-rimmed black fedora. Wearing a matching suit to her son, David, they looked so chic. Then to top it off, Madonna wore a similar suit in white for her performance with Macklemore and Queen Latifah. She gets it right all the time. She can do no wrong.
4. Beyoncé in Michael Costello (performer and multiple nominee)
It
was a little disappointing that Beyoncé didn't walk the red carpet, but
for good reason. She opened the show with a sexy and sultry opening
performance with hubby Jay Z. We got a look at her dress after her
performance, and she looked stunning in a white Michael Costello dress.
It was perfect for her body type, along with being right on trend -
white, sheer, and pale shades.
5. Chrissy Tiegan (supermodel and wife of John Legend)
Chrissy
Tiegen was super va-va-VOOM in this Johanna Johnson metallic chain-mail
gown. There isn't much to say, as this look speaks for itself.
6. Colbie Calliat (presenter)
Colbie
Calliat has come a long way from her breezy, hippie days. This lace-top
Ezra Santos scarlet stunner is the perfect combo of sophisticated high
neck and amazing and sexy slit across the front.
Most Stylish Men
1. Ryan Lewis and Macklemore (nominees)
The Grammy-winning duo turned heads in a quirky ensemble that played up their funny personalities. Ryan Lewis rocked a houndstooth suit by Mr Turk with a black dress shirt, satin tie, and two-toned loafers, while Macklemore stepped out in a teal velour suit with a black bow tie.
2. Robin Thicke
Posing next to his wife, Paula Patton, who wasn't on my best dressed list, I can say his look made her look better. Robin rocked it in a black velvet Giorgio Armani suit
3. Wiz Khalifa and Amber Rose
Amer Rose dazzled the Grammys in a plunging-neckline, gold-metallic Naeem Khan dress beside a very sleek and tailored Wiz Khalifa in all-black Saint Laurent and gold accessories.
Worst Dressed
(Fidge is calling the Glambulance)
1. Paula Patton
Back on my worst-dressed list again, Paula Patton's zebra-print dress is all wrong! I don't even know where to start. From the pattern on the dress, the sequins, and the two-headed lions looking at her cleavage - so creepy! Come on, Paula's style team, get it together!
2. Paris Hilton
For the life of me, why is Paris Hilton trying so hard to get this sheer, no-panty-wearing look on trend. It's never going to happen! She needs to give it up 'cause the jig is up. The barely no-skin back and long train was like added fabric she sewed on to the dress right before she left her house. Get a new stylist ASAP!
3. Skylar Grey
Head-to-toe nude leather isn't always the best choice. Skylar Grey looked completely washed out in head-to-toe nude. Your stylist should have known better!
