WESTERN BUREAU:

Uber Blue's organisers created a Europe-club feel at Pier One on the waterfront on Friday, April 11, and the party people who turned out were not disappointed.

In fact, the white cloth that flowed loosely throughout the venue gave that feeling of ease and comfort, eclipsing any European village atmosphere.

At the controls were DJs Crazy Neil, Timeless and Jigga, while on the dance floor were yuppies mixed with the millennials who have mastered not only the art of having a whale of a time, but know all the moves to log on, the Harlem shake, wine and dip, and row the boat.

DJ Jigga, took over the party for 45 minutes and, in his set, he drew for rock and roll, old-school dancehall, reggae, soca and hip hop. His selection brought out the mash potatoes and the forever and renowned skank. The former Link DJ of Linkz 96FM, who won the Heineken Green Synergy in 2008, had Uber Blue on fire with the likes of Wayne Wonder, Buju Banton, Beres Hammond, and Dennis Brown.

DJ Crazy Neil, who played almost every genre of music, generated the hands-in-the-air response. During his set, there was no real dominant dance move on the dance floor, but the selection unleashed Walk Like a Dog, One Drop and the usual splits and rolls. When he drew for pop and Electric Dance Music, the crowd's natural response was to jump and jump they did.

Uber Blue, sponsored by Appleton Estate and Skyy
Vodka, is in its ninth year. Montego Bay will again see a display of the
musical energy when the event returns in
October.
