West Indies all-rounder Darren Sammy and Pan Am Games bronze medallist Levern Spencer emerged St. Lucia’s 2007 Sportsman and Sportswoman-of-the-Year.
It was Sammy’s fourth hold on the award, while the 23 year old high jumper Spencer was winning the title for the sixth time.
Sammy was a clear favourite for the award, with consistent veteran roadrunner Victor Ledger seeming to be the only close contender.
She brought international attention to St. Lucia, while capturing a bronze medal at the 2007 Pan American Games in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
She was the first St. Lucian woman to win a medal at that level of competition.
