WI against Bangladesh starts today
The first Test between hosts West Indies and Bangladesh is scheduled to bowl off at the Arnos Vale Sports Complex in St Vincent today with the Caribbean Side expected to field a replacement squad.
The West Indies Players Association (WIPA) says the original 13-man squad will boycott the series due to contractual issues with the West Indies Cricket Board (WICB).
As a result of the boycott, the West Indies selectors have hastily got together a new squad, which landed in St Vincent yesterday.
Among the new West Indian players are fast bowler Tino Best, all-rounder Darren Sammy, opening batsman Dale Richards, Ryan Austin, Kevin McClean, Travis Dowlin, Nelon Pascal, Omar Phillips, Floyd Reifer, Kemar Roach and Chadwick Walton.
Four others including Under-19 players Kraigg Brathwaite of Barbados and Andre Creary of Jamaica were expected to join them.
No captain has been named yet, but it has been strongly suggested that Reifer, the experienced batsman from Barbados will lead the side.
Reports indicate that the WICB will officially release the names of the players just before the start of the game.
The series comprises two Tests, three One-Day Internationals, and one 20/20 International.
