Haiti has received a multi-million dollar debt write-off from the Paris Club of rich international countries.
The Paris Club said it has cancelled more than US$62M worth of Haiti’s debt.
Paris Club creditors said they decided to cancel the debt as part of a leniency effort towards heavily indebted poor countries.
The group said the move would also lead to the clearance of more debt to member countries.
The Paris Club, which has 19 permanent members, is an informal group of creditor governments from major industrialised countries.
