More than 10,000 Chinese have been left homeless after an earthquake measuring a magnitude of 6 stuck the country yesterday.
Officials report that the quake hit the Yunnan province in Southwest China minutes after 7 o’ clock in the evening.
They say more than 300 persons were injured during the ordeal. Relief workers have begun distributing tents, bedding and other relief items to the affected persons.
Yesterday’s earthquake comes more than a year after a massive quake struck Sichuan province on May 12, 2008.
According to Chinese officials, the 8-magnitude quake killed more than 68 thousand people and displaced 15 million others.
They say close to 18,000 persons have not been found since the event.
