Sri Lanka beat Pakistan to win series

Sri Lanka defeated hosts Pakistan by seven wickets with two days to spare in the second Test in Colombo today.



As a result of the victory, Sri Lanka have taken an unassailable 2-0 lead in the three-match series.



Needing 171 runs to win, Sri Lanka reached the target for the loss of just three wickets.



Opener Malinda Warnapura set up the win for the hosts with a brisk 54 off 56 balls, his seventh test half-century.



Earlier, spinner Rangana Herth took a maiden five-wicket haul to put Pakistan under pressure.



He ended with five for 99 as Pakistan, who resumed this morning on 178 for one, were bowled out for 320.



At one stage Pakistan were 285 for one before losing nine wickets for 35 runs.



Fawad Alam top scored for Pakistan with 168 and was supported by Younis Khan 82 and opener Khurram Manzoor 38.



Final scores in the match: Sri Lanka 240 and 171 for three, Pakistan 90 and 320.
