Young Windies win

The young West Indies team had a comfortable seven-wicket victory against Ireland to advance to the semi-finals of the Plate League at the ICC Under 19 Cricket World Cup today.



The Windies made 158 for three off 23.1 overs in reply to Ireland’s 154 for 9 off 50 overs.



Kieran Powell top scored for Windies with 50. He received support from Steve Jacobs with 40 not out, Kyle Corbin 33 runs, and Darren Bravo 30 not out.



Jacobs was the pick of the Windies’ bowlers with three for 18. Delorn Johnson had three for 29, Veerasammy Permaul and Jason Dawes picked up a wicket apiece.



The West Indies will play their Plate semi-final on Wednesday against Papua New Guineas.
