Even as Belizean health authorities battle an outbreak of the Influenza A H1N1 virus, it appears the country may be faced with another epidemic.

Health authorities in Belize say the country is experiencing an outbreak of dengue fever.

They say some 184 cases of the fever were recorded between May and July.

According to them, the majority of the infected persons are from the Cayo district in western Belize.

Mosquito-borne dengue is endemic in Belize.

Health Ministry officials are seeking to assure that they are taking the necessary steps to prevent the disease from spreading.
