Portmore defeat Trelawny Women

Midseason winners Portmore Strikers scored a 1-0 victory over Trelawny Women at Racing Oval yesterday to move top of Zone ‘A’ in the Sherwin Williams-sponsored Women’s Premier League.



As a result of the victory Portmore Strikers have moved to 22 points, three ahead of defending champions Barbican on 19 points.



Barbicans were scheduled to host Arnett Gardens yesterday, but their opponents did not show for the game.



In the other Zone ‘A’ game, Maverley Hughenden edged bottom place Constant Spring 3-2 at Maverley to move to third place on 13 points.



Over in Zone ‘B’, second place Harbour View defeated fourth place Meadhaven 3-1 at Harbour View Stadium; while fifth place Santos scored an upset 1-0 victory over third place Reno at Brancourt in Clarendon.



Meanwhile, the game between leaders Waterhouse and Olympic Gardens will take place this afternoon at Maverley, beginning at 4 p.m.
