Athletes to know fate today
A decision into the matter involving the remaining four athletes who tested positive for a banned substance at Jamaica’s senior trials in June is expected today.
Five athletes Yohan Blake, Marvin Anderson, Allodin Fothergill, Lansford Spence and Sheri-Ann Brooks returned positive tests.
However, the disciplinary committee of the Jamaica Anti-Doping Commission (JADCO) cleared Brooks last week due to procedural errors with the testing of her ‘B’ sample.
But after an eight hour hearing with the remaining four athletes and their lawyers on Friday, Kent Gammon, chairman of the JADCO disciplinary committee said its members are yet to reach a final decision.
Gammon said the disciplinary committee has heard submissions for the remaining athletes by the lawyers and its members are now awaiting a written summation before making a final decision.
He said the final decision should be made today.
