The US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) is in court challenging bills run up by the receiver appointed to settle the assets of former billionaire Allen Stanford.

The SEC is questioning the size of the legal and consultancy bills presented by receiver Ralph Janvey.

Meanwhile, Sir Allen is reported to be having problems securing another lawyer because of his lack of funds.

Media reports say lawyers do not want to defend the former billionaire without guaranteed compensation.

According to court documents, Mr Stanford has also complained about his prison conditions in the hot Dallas summer.
