Chanderpaul half century failed to save Durham

Shivnarine Chanderpaul made a return to cricket yesterday, but his half-century failed to save Durham from a 22-run defeat by Hampshire in their Pro40 English Division One match at Riverside Ground.



Chanderpaul hammered eight fours in the top score of 54 from 53 balls to lift Durham to 207-5 from 36 overs in the rain-affected match.



When rain stopped play, Hampshire were 87-1 from 11 overs in reply, and under the Duckworth-Lewis Method, they were well ahead of the scoring rate.
