The governor of the Turks and Caicos Islands, Gordon Wetherell, has sworn in members of the consultative forum that will advise him on legislation and other matters.

The governor has taken over full responsibility for managing the islands after the UK re-assumed direct rule earlier this month.

Under the order amending the territory\'s constitution, the forum is to include between 11 and 15 members, chosen by the governor from among persons representative of the community.

Its functions are to make recommendations on proposed legislation, policies or proposed policies referred to it by the Governor, or on any other matter brought to it by one of its members.
