The Guyanese army has announced the dismissal of three coast guards who robbed and murdered a gold dealer.
The three junior officers ordered the man out of the boat in which he was traveling and into their coast guard vessel.
They later confessed that they robbed the man of the equivalent of US$70,000, which he was carrying before strangling him and dumping his body in a river.
Chief government spokesman, Roger Luncheon, has called for a board of inquiry into the conduct of the coast guards.
